Lorac Baked Eye Shadow Trio | Review

Lorac Cosmetics gives you Red Carpet Looks that are easy and affordable. I was lucky enough to snag 2 of the Baked Eye Shadows to share with you. With the Holidays rolling around I'm game to try anything that will make me beautiful in less time because I will have more time to spend with family and friends. So do these shadows deliver? Check out my review.

According to the website you can easily create a Red Carpet smoky-eye with these color-coordinating shades of shimmering baked shadow. Baked on terra cotta to create a silky-smooth unique texture, these highly pigmented, long-lasting shades are designed to be applied either wet, for a more dramatic effect, or dry for a natural look. Highlight, contour, line, define and captivate your audience with sexy, sultry, starry eyes!

Up first is starstruck which is a plum color perfect for fall!

Here we Have Starlet which is a sexy purple. Perfect for Date Night or Girls Night Out.

Glow: These are very convenient! Great for travel because they slip right into your bag and they are the size of my palm. You can use these wet or Dry which can give you a Day or Dramatic look. I LOVE that the trio contains a Highlight, Crease, and Lid color. The packaging is cute and compact and you get a bunch of product.

Glare: No mirror. You don't realize how useful something is until you don't have it. Not having a mirror is not a deal breaker for me since I carry several in my bag.

These Trios retail for $25.00 and you can find them here.

Nail Junkie: Orly | Plastix Collection

Orly's Plastix Collection originally debuted earlier this year during the summer months. Call it a fashion sin if you want to, but I'm the type of girl who adores bold colors all year long! ( Who's with me? Don't be shy! ) The collection features retro bright colors with a matte like finish.

Old School Orange
A classic light/medium orange with a semi matte finish

Retro Red
A traditional red with coral tones and a semi matte finish.

Purple Pleather
A shiny blue based purple with a semi matte finish.

 Viridian Vinyl
A glossy medium blue/green with a semi matte finish.

Glow: I loved that this collection is very true to color. My favorite out of the bunch is definitely Retro Red because it has a beautiful coral tone to it.

Glare: I can't particularly say that I'm a fan of the whole matte look just yet because it gives off such a dry look and I like a lot of shine, which is why I topped the polish with a shiny clear coat.

Would I Recommend It? Yes! They are nice bold colors and not over the top!

Overall Glam: These shades are perfect for the girl who likes to make a subtly bold statement ;o)

* The Plastic Collection can be purchased for $7.50 a bottle at www.orlybeauty.com .

Winter Lips

Winter is here, it’s time to embrace the extreme cold air. With the newly changed weather dynamic, dropping temperatures will become a daily occurrence. Outfit choices will begin to include layers of clothing and scarves covering up virtually everything. It’s the perfect time to wear your sexy through your lips. Lips are one of the focal points of your face; it’s your calling card to the world. Let your lips be your fashion statement. Take some time and try different looks that show your personality and speak a language all its own. As the season gets more intense, try out three great looks for your lips to bring the heat and attention to you. This winter red, coral and nude lips are the perfect fit for day and night events.

Red

Red lips are sexy and timeless. No matter the season, red lips have made it on the runway to the club. Since the day Marilyn Monroe took her first professional picture, always in a ruby shade; the popularity of red lips has grown.

Red is daring and draws all the attention to your luscious lips and beautiful face in every setting. With a natural look, you can't go wrong with a bold choice of red. Pick a red that has the same undertones of your skin. Red lips will heat up the cold nights to come.

Tip: Make sure to use a lip liner, red tends to get a little messy at times.

Red Lip Picks:

Givenchy Printed Lips. Rose Impression. $24.50 (parfumsgivenchy.com) Easy application with a great matte finish.

Dior Serum De Rouge Luminous Color Lip Treatment. Res Serum 850. $32 (beauty.dior.com) Dior Serum De Rouge has an easy application with a rich creamy look. It's enriched with mango butter, giving nourishing treatment with SPF 20 protection.

Kat Von D Painted Love Lipstick. $18 (sephora.com) Kate Von D has a great collection of reds for all your special looks, specifically Hellbent.

Cover Girl Shineblast Lip Gloss. (covergirl.com) Covergirl Shineblast "Fire" gives a high gloss, along with the breakthrough application, which helps give off the perfect shimmer.

Coral

Coral lips are making a comeback for fall this year. It's great for fashionistas not interested in red, but looking for a little more than a nude lip. Coral gives off a radiant look to a season known for destroying lips.

This is one great color that virtually looks regal on most skin types. With so many shades ranging from bold to bright you can't go wrong with coral. If you have warm undertones try more orange and pink traditional corals, while cooler tones should go for the darker hues of coral. With a natural look or tinted moisturizer, coral is a great look for day or night.

Coral Lip Picks:

Tarina Tarantino Conditioning Lip Sheen $22 (sephora.com) Tarantino has creamy lip color with satin finish in many shades of coral.

Yves Saint Laurent Gloss Pur. $30 (yslbeauty.com) Try out Yves in Pure Coral. Gloss Pur gives a luminous glossy sheen.

Mac's Tinted Lip Glass. $14 (maccosmetics.com) Mac has created a high gloss, with glass like finish. It not only creates a shine but includes jojoba oil to soften and condition lips. Try out Lip Glass in Pink Lemonade.

Nude

For you ladies who love the natural look, nude is the way to go. You can still have the neutral look while giving your lips a basic shine. Be careful, picking the wrong hue can be disastrous for your face. Lighter skin should stick to peachy and totally nude; while darker skin can go more with light browns and tans.

Nude Lip Picks:

Revlon Color Burst. (revlon.com) ColorBurst has great neutral colors. Try Revlon out in Hazelnut.

Make Up For Ever Lipstick. $19 (sephora.com) Make Up For Ever has a collection of pearly, cream, transparent, and matte colors. Try out the great line of neutral browns.

Products & Shades used include:

• Flawless Coverage Mineral Foundation [ MD 40 ]
• Liquid Pearl Lipgloss [ Exhale ]
• Mineral Eye Shimmer [ Dream ]
• Mineral Eye Shimmer [ Cranberry ]

I'm a tad bit shiny in these pics, I have incredibly oily skin :-/

Glow: I really like the Flawless Coverage Mineral Foundation and the shade complimented my complexion really well, it gave me a really natural looking feel. And the best part is that it wasn't heavy at all! The Liquid Pearl Lip Gloss was another favorite, very sparkly and gave me just enough coverage. I also liked the color, it gave my lips a nude look.

Glare: My only gripe which is kinda an in general thing. While I love Mineral Foundation, I've never been really fond of Mineral Eyeshadow and my opinion was really no different with these. Most Mineral Shadows are too sheer & glittery for my liking, while they are pretty to look at I've never had a good experience with them and the fall out & removal process is quite annoying to me.  While I'm sure a good base would keep the shadow in place it's just not my cup of tea. In the photos above, I actually mixed the Mineral Shadows with a more solid Eye Shadow that I already owned.

Would I Recommend It? Definitely, especially the Mineral Foundation!

Overall Glam: I love the fact that Steelo Cosmetics focuses on diverse skin tones, there are so many companies & popular brands out there that don't necessarily cater to women of color. They offer a variety of shades that are not only complimentary but also very fashion forward.

The Flawless Coverage Mineral Foundation is currently retailed at $25, Liquid Pearl Lip Gloss $13 and the Mineral Eye Shimmers are $13.50. To purchase or to learn more about Steelo Cosmetics, please visit their website http://www.steelocosmetics.com .
